P&Ause October 2015

P&Ause for the Victims of Typhoon Lando

A wide area in Northern and Central Luzon have been placed under a state of calamity due to the heavy rains brought by typhoon Lando (with an international name “Koppu”) last October 17.  Worst hit were the provinces of Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Pangasinan, Cagayan and Benguet.

P&A Foundation Inc., through its CSR arm, P&A for a Cause (PAUSE) in partnership with RFM Foundation, Inc. united for a relief drive entitled, “P&Ause for the Victims of Typhoon Lando” at Brgy. Sumacab Norte, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija on October 30 and 31, 2015.

A total of 13 volunteers from P&A Grant Thornton, together with other volunteers from different organizations such as Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific, TOSP R3ACH, and GAFSI joined hands in preparing 1,500++ food packs at RFM Corporation, Mandaluyong City last October 30, 2015 that started at around 8pm. One food pack contains 3 kilos of rice, canned goods, instant noodles, energy drinks, and snacks.  In addition, there are 100 pieces of mats or banigs to be distributed to families that are still at evacuation centers.

The following day, 10 new volunteers from P&A Grant Thornton and other volunteers from RFM Foundation and BayaniTayo are up early the next day for the deployment.  The whole bus filled with food packs travelled for more than 7 hours to deliver the goods to its beneficiaries.

Upon arrival, a total of 1,500 family beneficiaries have gathered for the distribution of food packs.  The volunteers formed 5 groups to facilitate a more efficient distribution of goods.

Aside from the spirit of volunteerism, this activity instill to the volunteers the value of sharing – not only for the material things but also for the time and effort. This surely put a smile on the faces of the families, and all those who helped.
