She Rises in Every Arena: Bea’s Journey of Empowerment and Purpose
Just as women rise through balance, intention, and heart, Bea’s journey at P&A Grant Thornton reflects the quiet, steady strength of someone who perseveres—with resilience shaped by sports, courage found in new experiences, and unwavering dedication in the workplace.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned—both professionally and personally—is that we are more capable and resilient than we believe. When I look back at my five-year journey at P&A Grant Thornton, from starting out as an associate consultant to now serving as a managing consultant, I see a path that was challenging yet deeply rewarding. There were sleepless nights, steep learning curves, and complex engagements that tested me in ways I didn’t expect. But those same challenges shaped my confidence, sharpened my judgment, and strengthened the resilience I rely on today.
I wasn’t alone in my journey: I was fortunate to cross paths with women who inspired and empowered me, including one of my mentors, Chams Villamora-Dacanay. I’ve always admired how she shows up fully in every aspect of her life: her work, her family, her creative passions. Seeing her balance, strength and intention taught me that leadership isn’t just about what you do, but how you carry yourself through it all.
Much of who I am now was shaped long before I entered the corporate world. As a former college varsity volleyball player, I learned the values of discipline, teamwork, and self-belief. The court taught me to show up fully, push through difficult training sessions, and commit to continuous improvement: lessons I carried into my career. It also taught me something deeper: that we are often capable of far more than we initially give ourselves credit for, and that we shouldn’t allow other people’s perceptions to define the limits of our potential.
Outside of work, I’ve continued finding spaces where I can grow and challenge myself. I recently travelled solo outside the Philippines: an experience that pushed me to trust my instincts, make my own decisions, and navigate unfamiliar places with confidence. Stepping out of my comfort zone reminded me that empowerment often begins with simply allowing ourselves to take up space.
I also find balance and joy in playing sports like pickleball, which has become one of my favourite weekend routines. Staying active helps me recharge mentally and return to work with better focus and energy. Sports continue to reinforce what leadership looks like in everyday moments: through teamwork, communication, discipline, and consistency.
Receiving the Client Impact Leadership Award is a milestone that I hold with gratitude. To me, it represents the excellence I strive for and the meaningful outcomes I hope to create for our clients. But it also reflects the dedication of my team—the people who worked alongside me, shared the load, and made every success possible.
As we celebrate Women’s Month, I’m reminded that growth—especially for women—comes from trusting ourselves, embracing challenges, and allowing our strengths to unfold in every arena we step into. I discovered that pursuing hobbies or sports outside work that truly fill your cup is important: they can help you recharge and show up better in other areas of your life. My journey is still unfolding, but i’ve learned that resilience builds quietly, confidence grows with practice, and empowerment begins the moment we choose to believe in our own capabilities.
