P&A Grant Thornton COO bags ACPAPP highest award

CEBU, Philippines -  The Association of Certified Public Accountants in Public Practice (ACPAPP) has chosen  Jun Cuaresma, Managing Partner and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of P&A Grant Thornton, as this year’s recipient of the “Lifetime Achievement Award”, the highest award given to its members who are all CPA practitioners.  The award was given in a ceremony held on December 6, 2016 at the Holiday Inn & Suites, Makati.

The prestigious award is bestowed on members who have distinguished themselves in public practice as certified public accountant who has possessed the highest professional qualifications, distinction in a specific field, professional practice, and unassailable integrity.

The conferment of the award follows a stringent selection process and has been conferred only to 14 members since 2005, including, among others, Corazon Dela Paz-Bernardo, Benjamin Punongbayan and Jose Araullo (Founders of P&A Grant Thornton), Gregorio Navarro, and Jaime Laya.  The criteria for the award include integrity, exemplary leadership, vision, and competence as senior practitioner for a number of years; made contributions in shaping the high standards and values of the Professional Accountancy Practice; practices good governance and business ethics in a most exemplary manner; exceptional ability in performing senior functions that contribute substantially to the growth and development of the profession and the economy; earned the highest respect of his peers; and good, moral and sound judgment.

Aside from being P&A Grant Thornton’s Managing Partner & COO, Cuaresma also heads its Audit & Assurance Division and has been in public accounting for his entire professional career fortified by over 30 years of solid experience in the audit of local and international companies in various industries.  Due to his exceptional career goals and superior reputation in the Practice of Public Accountancy, the University of the East has previously bestowed upon him the “Distinguished Achievement Award.” Recently, he bagged the award “2016 Outstanding CPA in Public Practice” by the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA).
