Grant Thornton exec bags PICPA award

AN advisory services partner and head of knowledge management group at P&A Grant Thornton bagged the “Outstanding Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Public Practice” award during the Philippine Institute of CPA’s 72nd Annual National Convention.

Michael Gallego, who started his career as a financial and information systems auditor and management consultant at Grant Thornton, bagged the award.

The award is given to PICPA members whose excellent achievement and performance as officer, partner, or practitioner in an accounting or consulting firm promotes the accountancy profession and whose significant national impact contributed to its prestige.

Gallego pursued a bachelor’s degree in business administration at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila where he finished cum laude.

He studied executive education in international management at a joint program with Stanford University, INSEAD—a graduate business school in France, and EGADE Tecnologico de Monterrey, as well as the management development program of the Asian Institute of Management.

He then joined a global building materials company, where he held key roles in internal audit, Sarbanes-Oxley and internal control, due diligence, and post-merger integration, and was expatriated to their office in the United Kingdom, Spain, and the Philippines.
