PICPA Cebu gets new president

Wendell Ganhinhin

THE Cebu Chapter of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA)—the professional organization of Filipino CPAs—has named Wendell Ganhinhin of P&A Grant Thornton Cebu as the chapter’s president for fiscal year 2018–2019.

Ganhinhin will replace immediate past president Gerald “Sugar” Sagarino.

Ganhinhin is the head of P&A Grant Thornton’s branches in Cebu and Davao. He specializes in tax advisory and compliance, as well as outsourcing.

Ganhinhin has more than 20 years of professional experience in public practice. He was previously a director of PICPA Cebu.

A CPA, Ganhinhin has a bachelor’s degree in business administration, major in accountancy, from Silliman University.

Ganhinhin and the new officers of PICPA Cebu will be formally inducted on July 20 during the 6th PICPA Cebu Summit, the largest and foremost gathering of CPAs in the Visayas.

Department of Finance Undersecretary Karl Kendrick Chua will be the inducting officer, and will also speak at the tax forum during the summit.

The summit will be held at the Marco Polo Plaza, Cebu from July 19 to 20 with the theme: Soar and Roar through Promoting Integrity and Advancing Excellence. Six hundred participants from Central Visayas and nearby regions are expected to attend.

National Economic and Development Authority Secretary Ernesto Pernia will be the keynote speaker of the two-day summit. Among the topics to be discussed in the technical sessions are the vital role of CPAs in organizations, the financial effects of climate change, the importance of digital transformation, the effects of the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion Law, the need to embrace servant leadership, and the relevance of corporate governance. (PR)
