Tytana hosts conference on academe-industry partnerships

IN CELEBRATION of its 40th anniversary, the Manila Tytana Colleges hosted the "2016 Tytana Academic Conference on Academe-Industry Partnerships: Perspectives, Experiences. Innovations" last Feb 26. with Sen. Cynthia A. Villar as keynote speaker. The event was able to identify ways on how the industry can participate in the collaborative agenda of producing fit-for-the-job professionals. Three plenary sessions were held. First is "information and Communications Technology: Synergy of Theory and Practice" with Science and Technology Undersecretary Rowena Cristina L. Guevara as speaker; Philippine Star president and CEO Miguel G. Belmonte and TIP president Dr. Elizabeth Quirino-Lahoz were reactors from the industry and academe, respectively; and Leo Querubin, president of Philippine Computer Society, was the moderator. Second was "Tourism and Hospitality: Asesan and Beyond" with speaker French Baker founder and CEO Johnlu G. Koa; Asia-Pacific Council on Hotel and Restaurant and Institutional Education president Ma. Cristina G. Aquino and Marco Polo Ortigas Manila general manager Frank Reichenbach were reactors from the academe and industry, respectively; and University of Baguio president Dhanna Kerina B.Rodas as moderator. Lastly, "Business Education: Preparing Fit-forr-the-Job Professionals" with Metrobank vice cahir Francisco C. Sebastian as speaker; Punongbayan & Araullo chair and CEO Ma. Victoria C. Españo and UA&P president Winston Conrad B. Padojinog were reactors from the industry and academe, respectively; and UPD Cesar Virata School of Business Dean Ben Paul Gutierrez as moderator. The conference was attended by over 200 members of higher education institutions, industry and government agencies.
