Firm’s official awarded as CPA in public practice
01 Dec 2017MANILA– Michael C. Gallego recently received the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA’s) national award for Outstanding CPA in Public Practice, honoring his achievements and distinguished performance as a public accountant and internal audit professional, and in upholding the highest ethical standards in the practice of accountancy. The award was presented last November 23 at PICPA’s 72nd Annual National Convention at the Philippine International Convention Center in Manila.
The award for Outstanding CPA in Public Practice is given to a PICPA member whose excellent achievement and performance as officer, partner, or practitioner in an accounting or consulting firm promotes the accountancy profession and whose significant national impact contributed to its prestige. In 2016, PICPA also awarded Gallego the Special Achievement Award for Professional Development, recognizing his contribution to the development of professional accountants in the Philippines. Gallego was president of the Institute of Internal Auditors–Philippines in 2016.
Gallego is an advisory services partner and Head of the Knowledge Management Group of P&A Grant Thornton, a leading professional services firm and the Philippine member firm of Grant Thornton International Ltd. He started his career at P&A Grant Thornton as a financial and information systems auditor and management consultant. He then joined a global building materials company, where he held key roles in internal audit, Sarbanes-Oxley and internal control, due diligence, and post-merger integration, and was expatriated to their office in the United Kingdom, Spain, and the Philippines.
Gallego pursued executive education in international management at a joint program with Stanford University, INSEAD, and EGADE Tecnologico de Monterrey, as well as the management development program of the Asian Institute of Management. He graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.
