P&A for a Cause (P&Ause) successfully conducted P&Atanim 2015 – a tree planting activity, last August 15, 2015 at Ipo Dam, Norzagaray, Bulacan. Over 70 volunteers supported the organization’s advocacy for a greener environment and gathered to plant 500 seedlings. The volunteers also checked on the seedlings previously planted in 2010. As appreciation to the team’s advocacy, the Dumagat folks residing at the nearby communities of Ipo Dam prepared a boodle lunch for the volunteers.

The Ipo Dam is a gravity concrete dam located about 7.5 kilometers downstream of the Angat Dam near its confluence with the Ipo River in Bulacan. While many are aware of La Mesa Dam, that the water feeding it comes from Ipo Dam. Of the 6,600 hectares covered by the Ipo Dam watershed, a significant portion has been denuded already.

P&Atanim 2015 served as an eye-opening experience for staff volunteers to better appreciate the compelling issues assaulting the embattled watershed.
